Whether it's man and machine, model and machine or toddler and machine, a car is more than just hunks of metal, plastic and rubber. It's a discussion-starter at the drive-thru, a piece of art on a stand at the auto show, or a source of dreams for a young kid after he's seen his first Ferrari.

The ways in which we interact with cars are as varied as the cars themselves. Whether we're racing, cruising, shining them up or running them through the mud, cars and trucks are always better when you get in and drive them.

Over the years we've captured not just thousands of images of cars but also hundreds of shots of cars and people together. Some are just looking, others are behind the wheel, but everybody looks happy. That's what cars do, at least for those who are smart enough to appreciate them.
